New Principal for Jefferson Elementary

The Board of Education unanimously approved Jason Weaver as Jefferson Elementary School’s new principal at Tuesday evening’s board meeting.  Jason will begin his work with the staff, students, and families of Jefferson beginning next school year.

Jason Weaver has been a Joplin Schools educator since 2002 when he was hired as a middle school social studies teacher.  He has also served the district as the Assistant Principal of East Middle School since 2011.  His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, a Master of Science degree in Education Administration, Specialist Degrees in Educational Technology and Educational Administration, and a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership.

Jefferson staff, a team dedicated to students, welcomed Jason Weaver to their school on Thursday afternoon with a reception and a sidewalk decorated with warm greetings. Jefferson Elementary is a neighborhood school that serves 230 students in grades K-5.

Jason Weaver, a strong, caring, and organized leader who is supportive of his staff is the right choice for this significant position.  Jason looks forward to building strong positive bonds with the staff, students and families of Jefferson in 2017-18.

Dr. Jason Weaver has often mentioned a desire to work for elementary students and staff.  We are excited for the Jefferson community.
