Joplin Schools Rank 9 Times on State's Elite Top Ten Lists

The state education department has announced that five Joplin elementary schools ranked a total of nine times on this year's Top Ten Highest Performing Schools lists. Released annually by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), the Top Ten lists recognize schools for high performance on the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests taken by students the previous school year.

This marks the third consecutive year that Joplin schools have been honored on the elite Top Ten lists. Last year, four Joplin schools placed a total of eight times.

“We are so pleased and excited that even more Joplin schools are being honored on the Top Ten lists for highest performing schools this year,” says Assistant Superintendent Dr. Angie Besendorfer. “For a district to make the Top Ten list is an example of excellence in academics. Joplin teachers, staff, students and parents are to be congratulated for their dedicated efforts.”
