Strategic Planning - we want your feedback!
Joplin Schools Board of Education recently approved five Standards of Excellence as part of Joplin Schools' strategic planning process. Over the last several weeks, dozens of educators, parents, and community members have helped to develop Waypoints (broad areas of focus for each Standard) and Indicators (measurable goals related to the Waypoints) related to each Standard. The result of this work is now available for public comment through May 31, 2013. Find more information here.
Information on redistricting and new attendance zones
On March 26, 2013, the Joplin Schools Board of Education approved the redistricting plan developed by a redistricting committee made up of parents, school principals, and school administrators. The plan will go into effect for the 2013 / 2014 school year and will change some school attendance zones to address population shifts due to the May 22, 2011 disaster and the construction of two new elementary schools to replace four elementary schools. Did you know that it costs just $20 a month to feed a child over the weekend through the Joplin Schools Snackpack program? The number of students supported by this program nearly doubled after the May 2011 tornado. Joplin Schools Foundation is trying to raise $25,000 to help fill the gap in funding.
