Summer School 2025

Summer School 2025 will be offered from May 29 – June 27, 2025 at the following locations:

  • Joplin Early Childhood
  • Dover Hill Elementary
  • Cecil Floyd Elementary (Please note that Irving will NOT be a Summer School site this year as originally planned, due to a building maintenance update)
  • Soaring Heights Elementary
  • North Middle School
  • Joplin High School (including Roi S Wood and FTC)
  • Duenweg Education Center (including Beacon Autism)

Summer School Hours

  • Elementary - 7:35am to 3:05pm
  • Middle - 8:20am to 3:40pm
  • High - 8:30am to 3:30pm

Summer School Transportation

  • All students will receive free breakfast and lunch.

Middle School: 3-4pm Wednesday, May 28
High School: no open house planned

Kindergarten Jumpstart

Kindergarten Jumpstart is a summer school program that invites incoming kindergarten students to get a jump start on their school year!

Students are enrolled in a summer school classroom and will become acclimated to the habits and rhythms of a typical school day including lessons, naptime, breakfast and lunch, recess, restroom breaks, standing in line, making new friends, and so much more. Jumpstart will run alongside the district’s elementary schedule from 7:35am to 3:05pm each weekday from May 29 through June 27, 2025.

Where will your kindergartner attend Jumpstart?

  • If your student will be enrolled at Cecil Floyd, Dover Hill, or Jefferson elementary schools for the 2025-26 school year, they will attend Jumpstart at DOVER HILL ELEMENTARY.
  • If your student will be enrolled at Irving, Kelsey Norman, or Stapleton elementary schools for the 2025-26 school year, they will attend Jumpstart at CECIL FLOYD ELEMENTARY. (Please note that Irving will NOT be a Summer School site this year as originally planned, due to a building maintenance update)
  • If your student will be enrolled at Eastmorland, McKinley, Royal Heights, or Soaring Heights elementary schools for the 2025-26 school year, they will attend Jumpstart at SOARING HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

Middle School Camps

These special camp opportunities are offered to interested middle school students who are enrolled to attend North Middle School this summer. Students MUST be enrolled in Summer School to participate in these camps. For more information, contact JasonVieselmeyer@JoplinSchools.org.

Healthcare Careers Camp, presented in partnership with Freeman Health System

Who: Incoming 7th & 8th grade students enrolled in Summer School at North Middle School.

What: Students will witness healthcare careers in action, experience hands-on learning, collaborate with medical professionals, and discover regional post-secondary healthcare programs. The camp includes an ambulance and air-ambulance tours, introduction to CPR, lab activities, OR tours and more. Participating students will receive a camp t-shirt and all necessary supplies. Transportation for all activities is provided by Joplin Schools.

When: June 16-20, 2025 during regular school hours

Where: At North Middle School and off-site at Freeman Health System properties.

If your student is interested in attending, please join us for a mandatory informational meeting at 9:45am Monday, June 9, at North Middle School.

JPD Kids’ Academy, presented in partnership with the Joplin Police Department

Who: Incoming 6th grade students enrolled in Summer School at North Middle School

What: Students will participate in one of four week-long interactive sessions to learn about law enforcement careers. Sessions include a tour of the police department, a training center simulation, obstacle course, traffic training, SWAT team and K9 Police Force introductions, investigations and law enforcement drones. Participants will receive a camp t-shirt and all necessary supplies. Transportation for all activities is provided by Joplin Schools. Each session is limited to 30 students.

Session 1: June 2-June 6
Session 2: June 9-June 13
Session 3: June 16-June 20
Session 4: June 23-June 27

Where: At North Middle School and off-site at Joplin Police Department properties.

FREE Summer Meals!

We’re ready to make sure all of Joplin’s kids have enough to eat this summer, regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in Summer School or regularly attend Joplin Schools. 

 

Free breakfast and/or lunch will be served and must be eaten onsite for all kids 18 and younger at the following locations:

May 29-June 27 at Dover Hill, Cecil Floyd, and Soaring Heights Elementary:

  • Breakfast 7-8am, Lunch 11am-12:30pm Monday-Friday

May 29-June 27 at North Middle School:

  • Breakfast 8-9am, Lunch 11am-12:30pm Monday-Friday

May 29-June 27 at Joplin High School:

  • Breakfast 8-9am, Lunch 11:30am-12:30pm Monday-Friday

July 7-Aug. 15 at Stapleton Elementary: 

  • Breakfast 7:30-8:30am, Lunch 11am-12pm Monday-Friday

June 30-Aug. 8 at the Joplin Public Library: All area kids 18 and under are welcome to eat free on-site! Thank you to our local partners who are helping to make sure all of our children stay fed this summer.

  • Lunch 11-11:30am Monday-Friday (closed July 4)
