Employee Assistance Program

A flyer for the Joplin Schools Employee Assistance Program and WorkLife Services. The Employee Assistance Program allows Joplin Schools employees and household members - regardless of whether or not they’ve purchased health insurance from a district plan - to seek free mental health assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The plan is administered through Optum, who offers an online assistance hub at Live and Work Well. Joplin Schools staff can create a profile there, by starting with the access code JoplinSD. The online hub offers a provider directory, benefits explanations, therapy options, Life Event kits, 24/7 access to a certified mental health therapist, financial wellness tools, legal consultations, suicide and crisis support, and access to download the free Sanvello wellness app, all at your fingertips.

Alternately, staff can access mental health resources and therapy immediately by calling 866-248-4096.

The benefits of the EAP for our coworkers are immense, and include:

  • 24/7 access to mental healthcare

  • 6 free visits per covered event per household family member

  • Confidential supports and services

  • Substance abuse resources

  • Strategies and therapy for relief from stress, anxiety, and depression

  • Childcare and elder care resources

  • Personal and professional relationship counseling

These options are completely confidential - no users will ever be identified or identifiable to Joplin Schools as having used EAP resources at any time. The district will only have access to percentages and broad overview data to help inform us of the program’s efficacy and our return on investment in the wellness of our staff.

All of this is being provided at no cost to Joplin Schools staff through Joplin Schools’ employer-sponsored benefits, as voted into effect by the Joplin Schools Board of Education in August, 2022.

If you have questions about the EAP or other health benefits at Joplin Schools, please contact Benefits Coordinator Ariana Valade at arianavalade@joplinschools.org.
