District AMI Update

Posted Date: 2/18/25 (9:28 PM)

Eagle Nation,

By now you should have received the alert that due to heavy snow accumulations and poor road conditions, all Joplin Schools buildings will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 19. This will be AMI Day 5. We will continue to monitor conditions and hope to be back in school as soon as it is safe for our students and staff.

We also want to let you know that the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has approved an additional (sixth) AMI day for our district through Senate Bill 727 as of December 2024. This gives us more flexibility in managing inclement weather situations while maintaining educational continuity. As such, there is now a possibility that IF our current closure lasts past Wednesday, we would use the sixth AMI day. In that case, virtual school work would continue as directed by your teachers. Elementary teachers would directly communicate day six expectations with parents via ParentSquare. If closures should extend into Friday, no further AMI hours are expected. Please visit JoplinSchools.org/AMI for details and support if needed.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this unusually snowy Joplin winter! We will be in touch with any further updates and hope to see our students and staff again soon.

Go Eagles!
