Announcing the next Director of Human Resources in Joplin Schools

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Jordan Adkins as the newest Director of Human Resources, effective Nov. 30, 2026. He succeeds Justin Crawford, who retired from the position earlier this fall.
Adkins has been a Joplin Schools employee since 2020. Having served both in the classroom and in administrative roles, Adkins’ most recent role has been that of Head Principal of Irving Elementary School, a post he’s held since 2022. He previously served as assistant principal at Irving Elementary, and as teacher in the Webb City School District. He also has managerial, recruiting, and directorial experience in the business sector, having previously worked as a Sam’s Club General Manager.
Adkins holds a Specialist of Education degree in Education Administration from William Woods University. He earned a Master of Science in Education Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, both from Missouri Southern State University. He is currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Southwest Baptist University.
“Mr. Adkins has been a strong leader at Irving Elementary, where his investment in his staff has led to improved student outcomes, a stronger school culture and greater stakeholder satisfaction,” said Joplin Schools superintendent Dr. Kerry Sachetta. “The skills that made him a successful principal, including developing people and creating an environment where they can thrive, will translate directly to his work as Director of Human Resources. We are excited for him to bring that leadership to our central office, where he will focus on employee satisfaction, recruitment and retention across the district.”
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Director of Human Resources for Joplin Schools,” said Adkins. “I look forward to supporting the great work that is happening all across the district. It has been an honor to work alongside such an amazing team of teachers and staff at Irving Elementary. I am very excited to step into this new role and serve Joplin Schools in this capacity.”
The district expects to appoint an interim head principal in the coming weeks to complete the school year at Irving Elementary. More information about an interim will be announced when it is available
